About Keep Your Filter Off Our Internet

This is a campaign put together by the Australian Web Industry Association to highlight the Australian Government’s misguided attempt to introduce mandatory filtering across ISPs. This amounts to nothing less than censorship and will have a crippling effect on the web industry - some studies suggest it will slow the internet by up to 40 per cent. This is already an issue for people trying to innovate in this area and we believe the Government is ill-considered in its broad-brush approach to filtering.

While we believe that children should be protected from harmful images and adult-content on the internet, censoring the Australian population is not the answer - suitable child-filters exist for this purpose. This is an issue that will effect all Australians - please take time to understand the issues at hand and take action.
